Sophie Harris is an editor and broadcaster with two decades’ experience writing for international magazines and broadsheets (The Guardian, MOJO, Rolling Stone, The Times, Time Out), and broadcasting for the BBC. In 2009, Sophie moved to New York to help transform the Music section at Time Out New York. She is now based in her home city, London.

Sophie’s interview portfolio runs the gamut from musical icons to movie stars, genetic scientists and renegade artists. She has played chess with nonagenarians; had her dress neatened up by Katy Perry; tested out High Street Santas; zip-lined an Olympic ski jump; and danced in a music video with the Wu-Tang’s GZA.

A versatile voice artist, Sophie’s recent work includes appearances on BBC Radio 2 & 4 and the Bigmouth culture podcast, plus video work for the Hyundai Mercury Music Prize. While living in the US, she guest-hosted for NPR’s New York station WNYC.

Sophie has given lectures on music journalism at City University, London, and Baruch College, NYC, guested on industry panels including SMILE at Southampton Solent University and served as a judge for the Scottish Album of the Year Awards. She has created and edited globally successful online features including Time Out’s Best Love Songs and contributed to books including 1000 Songs You Must Own, The MOJO Collection and 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Sophie also teaches yoga and sings in her folk music project, Springfield. years’ experience writing for international magazines and broadsheets (The Times, MOJO Magazine, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Time Out London/New York, Men’s Health), broadcasting and hosting for the BBC World Service and WNYC, and sub-editing (The Guardian, MOJO). In 2009, Sophie moved to New York to be Associate Music editor at Time Out New York, then Senior Associate Digital Content Editor and Contributing Music Editor. Having lived and worked in Los Angeles and Sydney, Sophie is currently based in London where she writes for MOJO, The Guardian and Rolling Stone, among others.
